TONIGHT – A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a slight chance of showers between 9pm and midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37º. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

TOMORROW – A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 66º. Breezy, with a southwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

There are currently no fire restrictions in our area. Although, breezy to windy conditions do keep the fire danger VERY HIGH for the San Carlos Ranger District. Gusty winds combined with low relative humidity brings widespread critical to extreme fire weather conditions

Rattlesnakes are coming out of their hibernation and have been spotted in Custer County. Local veterinarians have vaccines and boosters to help with the effects of snake bites. 

For Roads and Highways from CDOT

Road work on Highway 96 is now past the Bear Basin Ranch area. Work includes pavement milling and paving, full depth roadway repairs, shouldering, erosion control, guardrail replacement, seeding, delineators, signing and high visibility striping. Width restrictions of 12 feet will be in place Monday thru Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM within the project boundary. 40MPH SPEED LIMIT.

Storytime takes place today at 10am in the library for infants and children up to 4 years of age.

The Salida Circus is coming to town this Friday at 7:30pm at the Jones Theater. Jennifer Dempsey’s one woman show will be showcased in Friday’s evening performance. At 2 pm on Saturday there will be a documentary, showcase and workshop at the Jones Theater. Ticket price by donation. 

This week and weekend the 85th AnnualMusic and Blossom Festival is taking place in Canon City.

This week on Valley Views our host, Gary Taylor, interviews local luthier Paul Clopton on guitar making.

Valley Views* airs on Tuesday and Thursday at 7am and 6pm, and Saturdays at 10am, and is always available to stream on our website.

Custer County Middle School track has a meet tomorrow at 1pm in South Park.

4:30pm – 6:30pm – The National Honor Society is sponsoring a Science Night for Pre-K to 5th grade students in West Gym 

The High School has a track meet at 2pm in Del Norte tomorrow.
