Women’s Wellness Clinical Services

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) program  offers free cervical cancer screenings/Pap smear tests and free breast cancer screenings/mammograms to women who qualify. Annual wellness exams are a way to prevent illnesses and detect health issues early, when they are easiest to treat and survival rates are highest.

To be eligible for this service, women must be between the ages of 21-64 years old, living within a specific income level, be uninsured or underinsured and reside in Chaffee, Saguache, Custer, western Fremont, western Park or Lake Counties.

Public/Environmental Health Alert

There’s been a recall of Primark children’s bamboo plates. These products are being recalled because they contain high levels of lead and formaldehyde, posing a lead poisoning hazard to children. More information about this recall including specific items being recalled is available on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website at www.cpsc.gov

FREE LEGAL CLINIC Today from 2 – 5PM

A free legal clinic for those who have no attorney. Volunteer attorneys will assist one-on-one, via computer link. Volunteer attorneys will answer questions, help fill out forms, and explain the process and procedure for civil legal issues including family law, civil litigation, property law, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant law, veteran’s benefits, and civil protection orders.

Please contact West Custer County Library at 719-783-9138 to request a time for this event. Time slots fill up very quickly –– early registration is strongly encouraged. Due to high demand, appointments are not guaranteed.
