TOMORROW – A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Otherwise, Sunny, with a high near 81. West southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK – Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected through Friday, with most coverage over the higher terrain. An uptick in precipitation will be possible late Friday into this weekend. Showers and storms could bring locally heavy rainfall, especially to the Divide.

9am Board of County Commissioners meet in the Commissioners Board Room at 615 Rosita Avenue, Westcliffe. 

The Senior Center will be having their annual Labor Day Parking Lot Sale and Ice Cream Social on Saturday, September 2nd from 9am – 2pm and on Monday, September 4th from 9am – 2pm. They will be accepting drop-off donations on Friday, September 1st between Noon and 4pm. ​PLEASE NO ELECTRONICS OR HEAVY ITEMS.

Altitude Fitness front desk, pool, and sauna will be closed Labor Day Weekend (Sept 2nd – 4th).

September is suicide prevention awareness month – the West Custer County library will display art addressing this mental health issue to draw attention to this problem during the month of September. Artists are invited to submit relevant art in an art intake that runs today until September 15th. All art will be displayed anonymously. 

WEDNESDAY AUG 30TH

Veterans can meet the new Veteran Service Officer and the Americorps Veteran Resource Officer for our area At the library in the Community Room this morning at 8am. Coffee and baked goods are provided.

10am – 5pm Annual Wet Mountain Weaver Fibre Arts Show and Sale​ runs until Labor Day weekend starting today. Woven, knit, crocheted, felted, beaded, sewn and other handmade items are for sale. Weaving and spinning demonstrations are ongoing throughout the show. Free drawing for a beautiful handmade item just for stopping in At Greenstone Artworks, 100 Main Street, Westcliffe.

The Coaldale Schoolhouse Farmers market From 4- 6pm Wednesday at 287 Hayden Creek Road in Coaldale. Come meet and support your local makers, bakers and other artisans.

THURSDAY AUGUST 31st

10am (through Sunday) Olde Schoolhouse Quilters annual quilt show and boutique. Free admission. Tickets available for the raffle quilt; drawing at 5pm on Sunday. At Lange Hall, Hope Lutheran Church, 311 South Third Street, Westcliffe.

10am – 5pm Thursday through Sunday The Westcliffe Art Quilters show features unique fiber art quilts created using a wide variety of mixed media techniques on fabric. At Our Lady of Assumption Church, 105 S. 5th Street, Westcliffe.

For Labor Day Weekend… the 2nd Street Block Party takes place this Saturday from 11-1:30pm by the KLZR Studio on 2nd Street. And the High Altitude Horsepower Car Show runs from 9am – 2pm also on Saturday in Westcliffe. 

10 Minute Play Performance The Westcliffe Center for Performing Arts Players will be producing and performing the 10 minute plays. The playwrights will be invited to attend for a “talkback” with audiences and actors. Performances are Friday and Saturday night at 7:30, and a Sunday matinée at 2pm at the Jones Theatre 119 Main Street in Westcliffe.
