H5N1 VIRUS IN US

A person in the United States has tested positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H5N1) virus (“H5N1 bird flu”), as reported by Texas and confirmed by CDC. This person had exposure to dairy cattle in Texas presumed to be infected with HPAI A(H5N1) viruses. The patient reported eye redness (consistent with conjunctivitis), as their only symptom, and is recovering.

INCOME TAX FILING DEADLINE

As the income-tax-filing season nears its end, the Colorado Department of Revenue, Taxation Division reminds taxpayers that they need to file by April 15. 

Taxpayers who miss the deadline will receive an automatic, six-month extension, to Oct. 15 to file a return. However, there is no extension to pay the tax due. This means taxpayers who need to remit funds to the state will need to pay 90% of their tax liability before April 15 to avoid penalties.

Custer County High School BuildingTrades’ class is getting ready to construct the 22′ greenhouse.  The building trades class received a grant that allows the students to construct a greenhouse which the Agricultural students will use to grow vegetables for the school lunches.  This greenhouse will help educate students about running a small business by growing plants and selling to the community.
