East and southeast of our valley, the fire danger is VERY HIGH in the San Carlos Ranger District as well as in the Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands (the southeast corner of the state). Northwest to us, in Salida, the fire danger is MODERATE.
ROADS & HIGHWAYS
Road work on Highway 96 has shifted about 10 miles east of town, near the Bear Basin Ranch area. Work includes pavement milling and paving, full depth roadway repairs, shouldering, erosion control, guardrail replacement, seeding, delineators, signing and high visibility striping. Width restrictions of 12 feet will be in place Monday thru Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00PM within the project boundary. 40MPH SPEED LIMIT.
Cases of overdoses involving a new illicit street drug that mixes opioids (typically fentanyl) with xylazine (a veterinary tranquilizer) are being reported in Colorado. This drug combination is commonly referred to as “Tranq.” According to national public reports, Tranq has recently been linked to multiple deaths. In the past 14 months, there have been 4 drug overdose deaths in the Denver metro-area that involved xylazine in some form.
