HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK – Widespread critical fire conditions are expected in the area today with gusty southwest winds up to 40 mph, and very dry conditions along with temperatures far above normal.
Rampart Fire Update
The fire 20 miles West of Colorado Springs has been mostly extinguished and firefighters who quickly surrounded it were working yesterday to contain it.
403 Fire Update
As of yesterday, the fire is 1,518 acres at 88% contained. No change to the containment as resources are still finding isolated heat, hotspots. Engines are using infrared maps from the aerial platforms to find the remaining hot areas on the ground. Tomorrow’s forecasted winds and high temperatures will test the perimeter.

Residents are encouraged to be vigilant about rapidly changing fire and weather conditions.

Highway 50
Delays and closures through July 2023. Alternating traffic during daytime hours 8:30am – 7:30pm on Mondays, and 6:30am – 7:30pm from Tuesday – Friday on US 50 (mile points 124 to 127) between Montrose and Gunnison for major road construction. Full overnight closures are from 7:30pm – 6:30am from Monday to Thursday nights. Roadway is open to traffic on weekends beginning Fridays at 7:30pm. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and detour via I-70 or US 160. More information is available at us50info.com.

Popular priorities from the past have been Forest Health, Water Quality/Quantity, Weeds and Range Management. The meeting will be held in the All Aboard Westcliffe Heritage Center at 110 Rosita Avenue. Free lunch will be provided by the Custer County cattle women’s group. Landowners from outside the towns of Westcliffe and Silver Cliff are encouraged to attend.
