keeping us on the air
We have a whole lot of folks who work hard to keep KLZR on the air. Please say hello to three of them … Irwin, Sandi, and TC. They have been tireless in their work behind the scenes.
Irwin Burton is our technical wizard. He checks in daily to see that all systems are functioning properly and finds solutions to the steady parade of challenges. Irwin had no experience in radio when he joined KLZR but has approached problems with his can do attitude. In 2019 alone, Irwin has overseen the replacement of our server after it melted down, installed remote access software to allow off site access for our volunteers, and overseen much of the infrastructure work in preparation for the recent installation of our fiber optic internet feed.
Sandi Dalton lives down the street from our studio and is often the first one on the scene when something goes kablooey. Sandi played a key role in getting us back on the air when the server crashed this summer. Her regular duties include managing the music library and keeping our on air Underwriting and promotional announcements current. KLZR is most often running on auto pilot, but this involves a lot of work behind the scenes. The “auto pilot” often seems to have a mind of it’s own Sandi will have none of that.
TC Smythe is the newest member of the KLZR team. She recently arrived in the valley with extensive experience in Community Radio. She runs the office, works with our volunteers, and is heavily involved in our event planning. KLZR has already instituted many of her suggestions to make us better at what we do.
